WE CAN HELP!!

Here are some of the most frequently used types of treatment we provide:

  • Individual therapy is the most common form of counseling, in which you meet with the therapist one on one, either in person or through tele therapy. Sessions are usually 45-55 minutes long and meetings are scheduled every 1-2 weeks in the beginning.

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy is an evidence-based treatment approach for anxiety and depression. It focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviors, becoming aware of distorted thinking, and creating new ways of thinking that produce improved feelings and behaviors.

  • Dialectical behavioral therapy is divided into four sections: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation and distress tolerance. DBT teaches skills for managing intense emotions and regulating affect.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a type of treatment that focuses on values clarification. It focuses on adjusting thoughts and feelings and taking committed actions to live in accordance with one’s values.

  • EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a technique generally used to help people heal from past trauma that continues to negatively interfere with current functioning. It is a very brief treatment and helps the client reprocess old memories in a way that provides new meaning and understanding.

  • Individual therapy alone is often not enough to improve mental wellness. Individuals will see great benefit from eating healthier, moving more and choosing healthier lifestyle options. Walk n Talk sessions are available to get some healthy movement in while talking, as well as other strategies designed to complement mental health counseling.

  • When problems occur in relationships or in a family system, sometimes the most effective way of treating it is to bring everyone in for a session. The problem is not usually just one person’s fault, but there is dysfunction in the system. This approach is very effective and a lot can happen in only a handful of sessions.
